Outside Parts Sales Representatives are a rare combination of rainmaker and “save the day” experts. Without the appropriate available parts, immediately on hand, maximum uptime is a very difficult goal to achieve.
Outside Parts Sales Representatives (OPS) will hone their skills to provide solutions, not just the part that needs to be moved to reduce inventory.
OPS Representatives will need to know each of the needs of their current customers, the most obvious parts that must always be available and any opportunity to bundle demanded parts into bulk inventory, saving their customers thousands of dollars. Drivetrain components must always be available to ensure maximum uptime and reduced downtime.
OPS Representatives will learn to capture total fleet make-up, service manager’s preferences for parts and a historical accounting of what has been placed and what needs to be replaced.
